It just so happened that on this day, the sun rose slightly to the left of its usual position, so that, it burned into her window and sat upon her eyelids with a certain kind of heaviness. The sky was weary in its disposition. It simply hung, colorless, waiting for the Earth to spin it into another day, a different color. The shadows fell a bit misplaced. The rays of sunshine were confused and tangled. Time stood still and then raced to catch itself…as she sat with her feet dangling over the edge of the universe, emmersed in blackness, her toes kicking at the stars.
It wasn’t very often that the clouds parted ways enough for her to gaze upon the heavens. But on this day she saw faces shining through. The yellow haze seeped into her body and ran through her like a warm river, backing up and flooding her insides with heat. It had been so long since the world had given her a reason to fight back, a reason to suck in the air and appreciate the gift of it. This was her dream and it had come to find her. She opened her arms. She embraced it.
