Monday

sunrise

The plump yellow moon plunged behind the mountain without so much as a whisper. I could see the edge of its light clinging to the Earth as it finished its decent. Drowning in daylight, it gasped for air and then disappeared. And when it was gone I was free. I stretched and sucked in my first big breath of Monday.
I watched the heavens give birth to this day, and now it is mine for the taking.
